With the selection of roof tiles, we are also preserving our historical heritage in the preservation of historical monuments.

Hardly any other building material has as much history as clay roof tiles. Even the ancient Romans covered roofs with molded clay. Roof tiles stand for durability. With the right choice of roof tiles, we are still preserving our historical heritage as a listed building.

True to our motto “Preserving tradition, creating value”, we fire the right roof tiles in our kilns for many listed building projects, both then and now. At Jacobi, you will find an extensive range of shapes, surfaces and colors. No matter which tile you choose, you can be sure of high product quality, decades of durability and simply beautiful roofs.

 

With our traditional hollow tiles H1 and H2, the classic hollow interlocking tile Z5 as well as many other roof tile shapes, we offer a wide selection to match the look of old roof coverings. We are particularly proud of our K1 interlocking tile. Since we are the last industrial manufacturer to produce this shape up to today. We have been producing roof tiles since 1860 and are still one of the few roof tile producers today to produce historical tiles such as the K1 brim tile, the hollow pantile and much more shapes and forms.

 

New: monument protection of the future! The flat roof tile Stylist merges with a red solar glass, a patented development by Autarq GmbH, to form the Stylist PV. In this way, solar energy can be generated in an almost invisible way and the characteristic features of historic buildings and monuments are still preserved.

Our aim is to make a contribution with our clay products, in line with the requirements of conservation and craftsmanship, so that old roofs can be permanently preserved without distorting their historical character. As a medium-sized family business that values tradition, we want to make our contribution to the preservation of historical monuments. But our roof tiles can also score points in the field of renewable energies. This is because the Stylist PV with Autarq makes it possible to generate electricity on complex roof shapes in compliance with monument protection regulations. Fire protection is ensured by operation in the safe extra-low voltage range.

Roof renovation with courage and passion

An old house is like an old person who has experienced a lot. It tells stories, has a history that creates a connection to the past and fills me with respect. The energy is palpable.

The centuries-old Röbbigsturm was renovated with a great deal of courage and suffering. Originally, the roof tiles, which are over 200 years old, were to be preserved. But with a great deal of care, a feel for history and monument protection, the HäusgenBau team, headed by Christoph Häusgen, succeeded (in the truest sense of the word) in breathing new life into the Röbbigsturm with the hollow interlocking tile in the red muted surface as well as a constructive approach and good communication together with the monument preservation authorities.

The steaming finishing process

During steaming, the fired brick is subjected to a further firing. After heating, the oxygen supply is completely suppressed. The iron oxide contained in the clay then changes from a red to a grey-black color. This gives the steamed body its fully colored appearance. The result is a special, iridescent play of colors. This ties in with the traditional coverings. This makes it particularly important for the preservation of historical monuments.

The high quality of the original red body and an intensive firing process during steaming create the polar grey, light grey and night grey shades. This special series is available for the Z5 straight cut, the H1, H2 and Z2 as well as the plain tile.

For this variant, natural red bricks are only subjected to a short steaming phase. This special series is available for the Z5 straight cut, H1 and H2.

Special series salt-fired (Frisian)

In salt firing, the roof tiles are sprayed with a natural salt in a finishing process. During firing, a color spectrum is then created in these areas, ranging from red to shimmering blue tones. This traditional refinement enhances the natural play of colors of the brick body in a harmonious way. The special series friesisch-bunt Salzbrand is available for the Z5 straight cut as well as the H1 and H2.

Renewable energy solutions are also wanted today in the field of monument protection and will be needed even more in the future.
